not once but twice: we welcome antwerp-based visual artist Nel Maertens in vilvoorde and brussels, for two expos that are linked by location and theme. in vilvoorde, the expo Zaaien en Oogsten is part of border buda, while in brussels the events are linked to art brussels and brussels jewellery week, with a collaboration with jewellery brand Woche on top. both exhibitions open in the last week of april.

for the third rendition of Zaaien en Oogsten, Nel Maertens draws inspiration from the surroundings firma, in the middle of the Buda district between the canal and the viaduct. the wild flowers and plants that bloom in this industrial part of Vilvoorde - along train tracks, busy roads and the canal - are the starting point for a striking, colourful, XL flower carpet. 

The expo is part of border buda, a new project that wants to bring this industrial area closer to the neighbourhood again using culture and art as a catalyst.
